Daniel Murtagh has been working as a portrait photographer since 1995. A graduate of Pratt Institute, he has been creating an extensive body of work, refining influences from film and painting, and from periods spent in New Mexico and San Francisco. Working in both black and white and color photography, his pictures evoke a time past and suspended, a world of sensuality and vivid presence, where the individual is sensed, as much as seen. His work has been exhibited prominently in Denver's Month of Photography and recently featured in an exhibition and publication organized by SEITIES. He lives in New York City.
